“In order to understand the relationship between hunger and learning, it is necessary to have a long term perspective: what happens at a certain stage in life affects further stages and what happens to one generation affects the next one.” (Serie de Informes de Hambre en el Mundo 2006, El hambre y el aprendizaje – Programa Mundial de Alimentos – WFP - www.wfp.org/whs).
Kuychi Runa understands that before embarking on complex activities, it seems wise to approach the basic needs of the children of Ccoñamuru and neighboring villages. Therefore, it will carry out a nutrition research as a joint program with the nutrition graduates from the Programa Académico de Nutrición y Dietética de la Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón during 2011. Graduates will stay in the community for a few weeks, learning about eating habits, food supply and traditional cooking as well as weighing and measuring the children according to the methodology established for these studies. After a few months they will return with a nutrition recommendation to be discussed by the local population and health authorities and before carrying it out during the following years.
